It’s been over a year since I presented a material in which I described the history of my pedalboard, which I was incredibly happy with :))
What has changed ? 🙂
So let’s go back to where I ended the previous story.
“Maybe the moment will come for another evolution in hardware, but until then I’m going to enjoy what I have, and there’s a lot of it :))”
Needless to say, I enjoyed it very much.
At the same time, practically all the time there was a need of searching in me… Sometimes you feel, somewhere under your skin, that there is something that bothers you and “keeps you awake” 🙂 In a situation where a person works intensively with sounds for 12 months, it is quite natural that he discovers “new”. Maybe not quite “new”, but nevertheless the name of the category is appropriate.
And the leader turned out to be the EHX effect – Bass Soul Food (which will be called BSF), which suits both bass and electric guitar.
Initially, I decided to create a separate (smaller) pedalboard that would allow both guitars to be connected to the drum station using several effects. And then… BSF broke down – Drama, I waited several weeks for the result of the diagnostics, finally… I received a refund. And then, almost without thinking, I ordered another copy 🙂 because it’s an amazing effect :)))
However, during these few weeks of waiting, I came to the conclusion that maybe I should try to incorporate BSF into the main pedalboard.
In the meantime, I bought the Valeton GP-5 multi-effect – a little thing that turned out to be a great source of settings and I discovered EXH Attack Decay – an effect from the “swell” family :))
And in the meantime, I discovered EHX Analogizer – something so unnecessary and basically expendable that I couldn’t help but try it :))
Each of the effects I mentioned requires a separate story – I will do it through YouTube.
Oh, and then there is the issue of “overdrive”, which was solved a few days ago by “Paramount” made by Emerson Custom Guitars – an effect that is no longer produced, and was found completely by accident – and this is also a topic for a separate story :))

How to reconcile all this so as not to immediately overwhelm yourself with a thousand pieces of information.
The plan is as follows: Now I’ll talk about the final configuration of the pedalboard and attach the sound files. On the other hand, all side plots will be available on YouTube, also with current material.
So here we go (just like last year):
“Now… to the effects – I will present them in the order of connection, which does not quite match their arrangement on the floor”.
- NUX NTU-3 MKII FLOW TUNE – Tuner, not really an effect. I experimented a lot with the tuner, this is probably the fourth attempt, which I will stick with for a while. The basic parameter is the size – small, compact with a large display, allowing you to easily see the tuning indications. Small, simple, nicely made – ideal : )) – I fully confirm the words I wrote a year ago.
- Keeley Mini Compressor – Wonderful. Simplicity and the end result – 100% satisfaction. Here’s a small interjection – due to the new effects, I started looking for something smaller (ultimately 2 more effects arrived). The compressor itself – REVELATION !! On a good day, no one thinks about buying this kind of effect, but I’ll be honest, the functionality of the compressor is essential and currently I can’t imagine my kit without this element.
- EHX The Analogizer – smooths out digital sound by applying gentle blur and such hmmm… controlled noise and interference – weird isn’t it?! But it works great. I had incredible problems to find the right place for it – I read manuals, listened some presentations, and in the end (after long hours of testing) I did a completely different thing – a plot developed on YTube.
- EHX Bass Soul Food – deep, low boost, giving a solid base for embedding the entire sound – so much and that much – plot extended on YTube.
- Paramount made by Emerson Custom Guitars – in itself is a slight and smooth overdrive, but after plugging into the line it becomes even more expressive and totally does not drown out clean sounds – another strange description 🙂 – plot extended on YTube.
- Valeton GP-5 – multi-effect. Its basic use is: booster, noise gate, preamp for bass. And besides, broadly understood sound modulation. I’ll show you off here – I figured out the settings simulating a 12-string guitar on my own – the plot is extended on YTube.
- EHX Attack Decay – a difficult effect, but worth the time I spent to incorporate it into the line. This is not a typical auto-swell, moreover, it works seamlessly with other auto-swell effects, which has been proven in my case. To tell the truth, I’m still working on it and I assume that it hasn’t said its last word. The key is to use the slightly hidden “blend” function – a plot extended on YTube.
- TC ELECTRONIC CRESCENDO AUTO SWELL PEDAL – this is probably my favorite :)) auto swell effect. Why an expression pedal when we have such a gimmick. Perfect in its simplicity and invaluable in creating timbre. You just have to listen to it :)) – this is still my favorite effect.
- NUX MOD CORE DELUXE MKII – Chorus in 8 variations. This effect exhausts the issues related to the sound of the chorus mode, it’s just not worth looking any further :)) Each mode sounds different and is based on proven sounds. Personally, I really like the Dunlop-inspired U-VIBE. The CE-1 based on Boss is also interesting. The SCF using flanger as a base, on the other hand, is very original. The others are not inferior in quality and capabilities. Subjective choice plays the basic criterion in this case:) – opinion unchanged. It is worth to note that I swapped places: chorus with auto-swell. This was due to the addition of Attack Decay.
- NUX NDR-5 ATLANTIC – this is the effect that started it all, I bought it first and basically “added” more to maintain consistency with what Atlantic offers. Maybe that’s why NUX effects make up the vast majority in my set. On board the device there are three delay patterns, three reverb patterns that can be mixed together in any way, and the final result will exceed all expectations :))) – NUX effects are no longer the majority, but Atlantic remains “untouchable” 🙂
- BOSS IR-2 Amp & Cabinet – the last link woven into the system – an amplifier simulator (offers 11 types) with the ability to regenerate tones, reverb and distortion. A definite difference in favor of improving sound quality. The coolest thing about it is that in my case I use the “clear tone” sound the most, or “rfier” with the most extreme distortion :)) – after getting to know it better, I started to use other, also very good presets.
It’s time for a sample of the sound of this “outstanding” configuration:
Now the part belongs to the bass guitar.
Here, the settings are much simpler:
Keleey Mini Compressor – mandatory
The Analogizer – optional or rather not exactly demanded : )
BSF – mandatory
Valeton GP-5 – mandatory
Other effects – optional
Boss IR-2 – Disabled – Please don’t take this as a defect – that’s how it’s meant to be – it’s just designed and built for its intended purpose.
Another sample:
I invite you to YTube – more videos “on the way”, coming soon :))
Greetings
