In short, the competition is open to everyone – a global one. The minimum age requirement is 50+, so some people still haven’t caught on yet :))
The project is managed by people who work with Abbey Road Studio in London – in other words, they’re professionals.
This year, I passed my first attempt. I didn’t make it to the semi-finals, but who knows, maybe in subsequent attempts 🙂
Where did the rating come from? Each piece was judged twice, each time by a different person.
Judging Criteria
Every song is scored on four areas:
X Factor (30 points) – Overall impact, uniqueness, and emotional connection
Lyrics (30 points) – Quality of songwriting, storytelling, and word craft
Melody (30 points) – Musical composition, memorability, and flow
Structure (10 points) – Song arrangement and organisation
The reviews included three elements:
- general commentary
- what people liked
- what needs work
I’m posting the first two parts, the last one is only for myself. I definitely need to work on the arrangement, the vocals, make the drum station more “humane,” and generally work on the structure of the individual tracks.
What I’ve managed to accomplish so far shows that the approach is definitely the right one, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.
Too Many Drivers
Opinia 1
General Comments:
An energetic cross genre rock song. The song acts a protest against authority, with the descriptive lyrics sharing the writers frustration. The last line ‘lets have another beer’ added a nice sense of humour to the song.
Liked:
The rhythmic melody and punchy instrumentation compliment to the relatable frustration expressed in the lyrics. The reaction of the phrase ‘too many drivers’ acted as a clear hook and clearly converted the message of the song.

General Comments:
I think the song has an interesting, relatable message. The melody is catchy (albeit in need of more variation), and I like the instrumentation you chose.
Liked:
I like that you added an instrumental section after the third verse. The song’s melody has some catchy parts. I really like the sound of the guitar after the fourth verse.
Just Before The Flight
Opinia 1
General Comments:
This was a lovely song with an addictive groove and excellent atmosphere. It really invites you in and is evocative of a dark jazz bar in New York city. The structure was a weakness of the song, some sections should have been reduced and a chorus section or repeated motif would really elevate the track, however the atmosphere and flow of the track compensated for this.
Liked:
The whole energy and atmosphere of the song is excellent, the vocal melody has this lovely careful tenderness about it that compliments the smoothness of the other elements. The groove is great as well and I was dancing in my seat.

General Comments:
The emotional core—uncertainty about connection and meaning—is strong, but it’s mostly expressed in general terms.
Liked:
moody, introspective with strong atmosphere and a clear conceptual anchor. It feels like a reflective indie/ambient lyric
The lyric effectively captures a feeling of suspension: physically waiting for a flight, emotionally waiting for clarity or connection. There’s a quiet existential tone running through it, especially in the recurring line “just before the flight,” which works well as an anchor phrase.
Shadow
Opinia 1
General Comments:
This track has a moody, introspective vibe, with lyrics that evoke urban isolation and personal emptiness. The sparse, reflective style suits rock’s atmospheric side, and the repeated imagery gives it a haunting, meditative quality that lingers with the listener.
Liked:
The lyrics are poetic and minimalistic, creating a strong emotional atmosphere. Lines like “All things were gone with water, all things were gone with wind” are vivid and evocative. The bridge introduces introspection, giving the song a sense of emotional depth and narrative tension.

Really nice song! The chords are pretty and very pleasant to listen to. The rhythm in your lyrics works really well and it’s fun to listen to your words. The drum groove feels a bit static but overall I really enjoyed listening from start to finish.
Liked:
The chord progression sounds really nice. I like the rhythm of your lyrics, especially the juxtaposition between the short phrases in the verses and the longer lines in your chorus. I like the ostinato in the guitar a lot.
Ostinato – from now on, my favorite term in Music : ))
You can find all tracks uploaded to Soundcloud.
And I’ll probably prepare a surprise for YTube, but I need some time to prepare it : )
